2. If my Family Member or Friend is exhibiting suicidal tendencies what should I do?
If you have a family member or friend who is suicidal, do not leave him or her alone. Try to get the person to seek help immediately from an emergency room, physician, or mental health professional. Take seriously any comments about suicide or wishing to die. Even if you do not believe your family member or friend will actually attempt suicide, the person is clearly in distress and can benefit from your help in receiving mental health treatment.
3. How do I know if Therapy is a good and appropriate intervention for me?
Therapy is for everyone. Therapy might be helpful for the many stressors that we face in life. It is essential that trust and confidentiality are developed with your therapist quickly. Your personality will determine how long this takes. You will know therapy is working for you if you are practicing the coping skills and embracing the insights provided in sessions.
